With the club now being affiliated , members are now able to enter such races and use them as part of their training for triathlons.
Extensive details can be found on the Cycling Time Trials website , but here are brief details for everyone.

|
Distances - standard distances are 10, 25, 50 & 100 miles with 12 & 24 hour races also available should you really need your head examined.
|
|
|
Club - a turn up and ride race, pay the host club a couple of quid, sign on and off you go. Lots of clubs hold midweek evening 10s & 25s see “Race Listings”.
Open - an entry form has to be filled in and sent off no later than 14 days prior to the event.
The form can be downloaded off the CTT website and may look a bit complicated at first glance, ask one of our experienced members and they can run through it with you. Entry fees are generally £7/8.

|
Concept - A time trial is simply a race against the clock where riders start at 1 minute intervals.
In an open event riders will be seeded according to times they have submitted on the entry form with the fastest rider going off last and the other riders placed throughout the field so as to avoid bunches forming on the road.
Some events are handicapped some restricted to the slowest or fastest entries and many include prizes for best improvements , age group and team (usually three).
There are team events of two , three , or four riders where the riders go off together each taking a turn “on the front”. Best left to experienced riders who are used to riding together.

We meet at Brickendon at 7.00pm on Wednesday evenings to take part in a self timed time trial over the NHTT course.
It covers a distance of just over 9 miles, each participant records their own time - you can only fool yourself!
The route is set out on GMaps Pedometer.
